Sattal Attractions/Tourist places/Local Sightseeing

Located in the enchanting Himalayan Ranges of the Kumaon region, Sattal (Seven Lakes) is an interlinked group of seven mesmerizing freshwater lakes situated in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. It serves as a tranquil haven to the tourists who visit the place to enjoy the picturesque exquisiteness. The town is one of the few unblemished and uncontaminated freshwater biomes in India.

Jim Corbett National Park #1

It is situated in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand state and is also India's oldest national park being established in 1936. The park was named after hunter turned conservationist Jim Corbett.Jim Corbett national park is situated 81kms from Bhim Tal.

Mukteshwar #2

It is situated at a distance of 35kms from Bhim Tal set at an elevation of 2,285mts above sea level.Mukteshwar got its name from a 350year old temple Mukteshwer Dham whose presiding deity is great Lord Shiva. The top of the mountain on which Mukteshwar Dham is stood offers stupendous views of Himalayan range.

Bhimtal #3

Bhimtal is a small town situated at 3 km from Sattal, at an altitude of 1375 m above the sea level. This town is mainly known for its Bhimtal Lake, which has a small island in its centre. The town has derived its name from the legendary Bhima of the Mahabharata who is said to have visited this place during his exile period. This town is also considered to be older than Nainital and to have remained a part of ancient silk route of China.

Naukuchia Tal #4

The name literally suggests Nine-Cornered Lake. It is situated 19kms from Sattal.  Naukuchia tal is set at an altitude of 1,220mts above sea level. The lake is around 1 km in length, 0.6 km in width and approximately 40m in depth. It is the deepest of the lakes in the greater Naintal area. According to myth, if one takes a glimpse of all nine corners at once, one can disappear in a cloud of smoke.

Almora #5

Almora is a picturesque place located in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Almora is famous for its magnificent beauty, panoramic view of the Himalayas, rich cultural heritage, exquisite wildlife, unique handicrafts and delicious cuisine. The picturesque landscape of Almora attracts hundreds of tourists each year. Almora is situated 65kms from Sattal.

Ranikhet is a hill station in Almora district of Uttarakhand state. Ranikhet is also the home for Kumaon regiment and Naga regiment of Indian Army.  Ranikhet offers invigorating views of the snow capped peaks of the prodigious Himalayan range. Ranikhet literally means Queens Meadow or Queen's field”. Ranikhet is situated 35kms from Bhim Tal set at an altitude of 1,869mts above sea level.

It is one of the most popular hill stations of Kumaon perched at an elevation of 1890mts above sea level. Situated 107kms from Bhim Tal this charming hill resort set amidst several snow- capped peaks is endowed with extraordinary natural beauteousness. 

Nainital #8

It is situated at a distance of 24kms from Bhim Tal at an elevation of 1,938mts above sea level. Nainital is named after an eye shaped lake set amidst the mountains with thick alpine trees. Nainital is situated in the Kumaon region and is one of the 13 districts of Uttarakhand state.
