Yamunotri Attractions/Tourist places/Local Sightseeing

Yamunotri is a very important pilgrimage and one of the sites of the Char Dham yatra. This town is situated about 3293m above the sea in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Surrounded by mountains from all sides, it offers scenic view to the pilgrims here. You can also view Indo-China border as it is located at close proximity to it. With the close proximity of mountains, it is also an ideal place for trekking and rock climbing. Rugged peaks and dense forests of the area provide immense pleasure to travellars here.

Yamunotri Travel guide is the best way to to know about the city. The temple of Mother Yamuna, on the left bank of the river, was constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. The idol here is made of black marble. To move from one place to another in the town and most importantly to get to the Yamuna Temple one can get horses and palanquins on rent which are in fact overall the best transportation options in this town. Yamunotri Temple, Surya Kund, Divya Shila, Kharsali are some of the places to visit.

It is well known for its high temperature where temperature ranges at about 190 degree Fahrenheit. Janki Chatti is located at the height of 2580 meters from the sea level. It is famous for its hot water springs.By the time we reached Janki chattiAs the motarable road reached closer to Yamnotri , the new night halt ( Chatti) places were developed. Couple of years back people used to walk from Hanuman Chatti which is about 13 Kms from Yamnotri. Now Janki chatti is last motrable spot, which is about 6 kms from Yamnotri.....

Khirsali Yamunotri #6

Situated at a separation of 1 km from Yamunotri is the little town of Kharsali. The spot is a prominent outing spot among the explorers as a result of its characteristic surroundings secured with regular springs and water falls.
