Tourist Places Near Chamba Uttarakhand :

Chamba is a town and nagar panchayat in Tehri Garhwal district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is situated at a junction of roads connecting Mussoorie and Rishikesh with the Tehri Dam reservoir and New Tehri.Its nearby tourist places are Dhanaulti, Surkanda Devi Temple, Ranichauri, New Tehri, and Kanatal, halfway between Chamba and Dhanaulti.

About 50 km from Mussoorie, the small hill town of Chamba, Uttaranchal, is another of those destinations yet unknown to most tourists and therefore unspoilt and fresh like a daisy for the lucky few who venture out seeking new places to explore and enjoy. Chamba is situated at an altitude of 1600m above sea level. There are pleasant forests of pine and deodar trees, with some good views. Unlike Mussoorie, this place is fairly quiet and picturesque, hence an excellent place to relax and wash off the city blues. One can reach Chamba in about 7-8 hrs from Delhi via Hardwar, Rishikesh and Narendranagar (290 km). One can also combine a stay at Chamba with a visit to Mussoorie or Dhanolti and reach via Dehradun, Mussoorie and Dhanolti.

Dhanaulti

At a distance of 12 km from Chamba Uttarakhand and 30 km from Mussoorie, Dhanaulti is like a cool winter breeze. Unspoilt by commercialisation, one can feel the nature here. Treks, pony rides along fruit orchards and water streams appearing from nowhere can keep you busy as there is no mall for shopping or video games. Roads to Dhanaulti are not so bad and this can be a place worth visiting.

Mussoorie:

Mussoorie, a picturesque hill station in the Northern part of India, was discovered in the 18th century by Captain Young. The British officials added to the popularity of this hill station, as they mostly visited it as a getaway from the heat during summer. Mussoorie is located at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, on ahorseshoe shaped ridge. This altitude gives the destination cool and pleasant climate conditions.

Dehradun

Dehradun is the capital city of the state of Uttarakhand in the northern part of India. Located in the Garhwal region, it is 236 km north of India's capital New Delhi and is one of the "Counter Magnets" of the National Capital Region (NCR) being developed as an alternative centre of growth to help ease the migration and population explosion in the Delhi metropolitan area.[3] Dehradun is in the Doon Valley on the foothills of the Himalayas nestled between two of India's mightiest rivers — the Ganges on the east and the Yamuna on the west. The city is famous for its picturesque landscape and slightly milder climate and provides a gateway to the surrounding region. It is well connected and in proximity to popular Himalayan tourist destinations such as Mussoorie, Nainital and Auli and the Hindu holy cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh along with the Himalayan pilgrimage circuit of Char Dham.

Rishikesh:

Rishikesh, literally means Lord of the Senses, stands for Lord Vishnu and the city is blessed with the flowing of Holy Ganges. The city is a hub of many ancient and new temples, attracting thousands of pilgrims throughout the year. The popular belief of Hindu devotees is that performing austerities in this holy town and offering prayers in the holy temples brings the much needed attainment of ‘Mukthi’, the salvation. 
The main attractions in this exciting tourist and religious spot include Gita Bhavan, Nilkanth Mahadev, Lakshman Jhula, Swarga Ashram and Triveni Ghat, all the places having great religious importance. Rishikesh and other nearby places like Chamba Uttarakhand and Mussoorie makes a good interesting and amazing excursion getaways. Rishkesh is renowned for numerous Yoga centers, and perfectly termed as the World Capital of Yoga, offering training of Yoga and many other spiritual activities. This is a place to attain peace and tranquility. Many water sports activities like white water rafting and adventurous activities like wild forest trekking can be enjoyed in Rishikesh. 

Haridwar:

Haridwar or Hari-dwar in Hindi literally means Gateway to God; Hari is synonymous to God and Dwar means gate! Situated in the state of uttarakhand, this holy place is a famous religious destination that invites people of various faiths and background. Haridwar depicts Indian culture and civilization in its full effect. The ancient Indian mythology refers to Haridwar as Gangadwar, Kapilsthan and Mayapuri, as also known in olden times. The descent of river Ganga from the mountains into the plains touches Haridwar before moving down other towns. Haridwar opens the doors to Char Dham or the four religious centers Badrunath,Kedarnath,Gangotri,and yamunotri  and promises a very pious experience for travelers. One of the oldest beliefs states that anyone taking a dip in the holy river of Ganga here can achieve salvation. Placed at a height of 249.7 meters above sea level and spread across an area of 2360 sq km, this district witnesses hot summers and cold winters. Connectivity is not a problem with road and railway networks active. Being of religious significance, it is needless to say that this city hosts religious festivals throughout the year. Some of the well known festivals (mela) are Kumbh mela, Kavad mela, Somvati Amavasya mela and Ganga Dussehra. Of utmost importance is the Kumbh mela, as it occurs once in 12 years when planet Jupiter (Brahaspati) gets closer to planet Aquarius (Kumbh). Haridwar is a treasury of various temples and religious places of interest apart from shopping hubs and wildlife sanctuaries. Anyone visiting Haridwar must keep time aside to visit all the temples situated in the city and experience the pious and holy atmosphere.

Rajaji National Park:

Named after Shri C. Rajagopalachari, the last Governor General of India, Rajaji National Park is a place worth visiting, especially for all the nature lovers. The park is spread in over an area of 820.42 sq km and boasts of having more than 23 species of animals. There are century-old rest houses within the park, providing accommodation facilities to tourists.

Chakrata:

Chakrata is a cantonment town in Chamba Uttarakhand district in the state of Uttarakhand, India.It is situated between the Tons and Yamuna rivers, at an elevation of 7000–7250 feet, 98 km from state capital, Chamba Uttarakhand, it was originally a cantonment of British Indian Army. Due west lies Himachal Pradesh, and due east are Mussoorie (73 km), Garhwal.
