The Taragarh Palace estate is sprawled on 15 acres of forest area surrounded by tea gardens. This entire area is one of the lesser explored in Kangra so still maintains an untouched beauty. This area used to be called Alhila - the land of the crescent moon when it was built in 1930. This magnificent palace is at the foot of the Dhauladhar range and has a stunning backdrop of snow-covered mountains. Built originally as a summer resort, it was later acquired by the royal family of Jammu and Kashmir for their own use. The Palace is now a heritage hotel and you can visit it to just gape at its splendour or you can eat there or use its many facilities.
