Kullu is the capital town of the Kullu District, in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is located on the banks of the Beas River in the Kullu Valley about ten kilometres north of the airport at Bhuntar.Kullu is a broad open valley formed by the Beas river between Kullu and Largi. This valley is famous for its beauty and its majestic hills covered with Pine and Deodar Forest and sprawling Apple Orchards.The course of the Beas river presents a succession of magnificent, clad with forests of Deodar, towering above trees of Pine on the lower rocky ridges. Kullu valley is sandwiched between the Pir Panjal, Lower Himalayan and Great Himalayan range.

This sacred beautiful lake is named after the great sage Prashar who is believed to have meditated in this region. Tirthan Valley lies on the banks of River Tirthan. The area is known for the Trout fishing and access to Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP).Basheshwar Mahadev Temple is situated in Bajura, which is 15 km away from the town. This temple is well-known for its exquisite stone carvings, sculptures and flat shikharas. Raghunath Temple, constructed by Rajah Jagat Singh in 17th century, is the oldest temple in the valley.Hanogi Mata Temple is located approximately 36 km away from Kullu. This shrine is one of the most sacred temple attractions of Kullu dedicated to Hindu Goddess Hango Mata.Deo Tibba is located at the attitude of 6,001 m above sea level.
