The people of Champawat are rich in cultural heritage and they still perform the rituals and fairs with equal interest, which they used to perform in 10th century. Nagnath Temple is one of the oldest shrines in the Champawat District, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is a double storey wooden structure along with a carved doorway at this temple, which represents the traditional Kumaoni architectural style. In 18th century, the temple was partially destroyed by the Gorkha and Rohilla invaders, but now the temple is in a better condition than earlier.
