Kinnaur Attractions/Tourist places/Local Sightseeing

Kinnaur which is also known as the Land of Fairy Tales has a beautiful backdrop. The place is an exquisite setting indeed with many snow clad mountains, lush green valleys, fast flowing rivers, ripe orchards and many vineyards. Kinnaur is situated along the border of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh and Tibet. Kinnaur has a striking resemblance to the Tibetan culture and the living style of the people reflects the same. Kinnaur has many different species of flora and fauna. The people here are very different and the culture of the region is also very different from the culture followed by the rest of Himachal Pradesh. The two main valleys namely Sangla valley and the Hangrang Valley accentuate the beauty of the region. Sangla Valley has numerous orchards and plantations whereas Hangrang Valley has a natural lush green surrounding. Kinner Kailash is a massive peak that dominates all aspects of Kinnauri life. Kalpa, Batesari, Chitkul are some of the beautiful villages that are considered worth visiting.

Nako Lake #1

Nako is a small and beautiful hamlet that is situated at a distance of about 2 km from the Hangrang Valley. Nako Lake is considered as the main attraction of the region which remains covered with snow for most part of the year.

Moorang in Kinnaur #2

Situated at an altitude of 3591m above sea level, Moorang is famous for its spectacular view and orchards of apricot. The village has an old fort in which there are few temples dedicated to different goddesses.

Rakchham-Chhitkul #3

Located at an altitude of 3200 to 5486m above sea level, Rakchham-Chhitkul Sanctuary is home to the diverse variety of flora and fauna. Various types of animals like the snow leopard, blue sheep, Himalayan black bear, musk deer and goral are found in the region.

Pooh in Kinnaur #4

Pooh is also known as 'Spuwa' is famous for the apricot, almond and orchards of grapes. Located at a distance of about 58km from Powari on the National Highway, the lush greenery of the region can attract anybody’s attention.
