It is believed that when Hanuman Ji was carrying the mountain with 'Sanjiwani buti' for Laxman, a piece of it fell here and since that day this place is known as 'Doonagiri' ('giri' meaning fell). Maa Dunagiri Temple is also known as 'Dronagiri'. On this mountain, Dronagiri was named after Dronacharya, a Guru (Teacher) of Pandav, on austerity. The name of this temple comes from Uttarakhand, the oldest and the Siddha Shakti Peeth temples.

This temple of Mother Dunagiri is the second Vaishno Shaktipeeth in the Kumaon of Uttarakhand after Vaishno Devi. There is no idol in the Dunagiri temple. Naturally produced Siddha pinds are worshipped in the form of Mata Bhagwati. Akhand Jyoti in the Dunagiri Temple is a special feature of the temple. Day 1

Delhi Airport-Kainchi dham (7 Hrs)

Pick you up from Delhi Airport,we start our road trip to the serene Neem Karoli Maharaji Ashram ( Kainchi dham ) situated in Bhowali, Nainital (Uttarakhand).On arrival check in at the hotel.After freshening up transfer to Kainchi dham. Darshan in temple and attend evening aarti.Transfer to hotel.Overnight near Kainchi dham.

Day 2

Kainchi dham

Attend morning aarti and visit the Golu devta temple in Ghorakhal also known as Bell Temple. Visit the other famous temple sites of Neem Karoli Maharaji Ji - Bhumyiadhar ashram : Maharajji often stayed at this ashram while Westerners were staying at Kainchi. The small ashram is located on the side of a steep hill with a beautiful view.This ashram has one very sweet Hanuman murti, Hanuman garhi:connected saint Neem Karoli Baba, who had his ashram at Kainchi. Hanuman Garhi is also known for its spectacular views.This temple is built on beautiful a hill. One can view the magnificent sun set & valley view of the Tarai from here. Watching the sun gliding down the mountains is what makes the place the most interesting. Visit Naina devi temple in Nainital and if time permits one can do the boating in Nainital lake and stroll on the Mall road.Overnight in Nainital

Jageshwar

Transfer from Kainchi dham to Jageshwar.On the way visit Kakrighat ashram of Neem Karoli Maharaj Ji : Kakrighat is situated on Nainital-Almora highway near Kahairna approx 20 km from Kainchi ashram.Neem Karoli Baba lived and meditated at this place. A river flows along its eastern boundary.At Kakrighat, in 1890, during his travel to the Himalayas, Swami Vivekananda sat for meditation under a Pipal tree. Here he experienced the oneness of the universe, of the microcosm and macrocosm, and realized that in the microcosm of the body exist everything that is there in the entire universe.Visit the Jageshwar dham.Proceed to Jageshwar: After morning breakfast departure to Jageshwar Temple considered one of the Jyotirlingas, surrounded by Deodar forest. This temple consists of several small temples of which the is the Maha Mritunjaya Temple and the largest one is the Dandeshwara temple.Overnight in Jageshwar/Binsar.

Day 4

Dunagiri

These ancient caves are situated 26 kilometers from Dwarhat and 9 kms from Dunagiri. In order to reach the caves, the visitors are required to 5 km uphill trek which starts near the Dunagirl temple.

The Dunagiri temple generally open from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. It's best to confirm locally as timings may vary during festivals.

It differs with the kind of boat you are riding. For rowboats the charges are INR 160 for half a round of the Naini Lake. You need to pay INR 210 for a rowboat doing a full round of the lake. It is INR 210 for a paddle boat on an hourly basis. You also have the option of taking a gondola ride on the lake where you need to pay INR 210 per person. You can boat between 06:00 am and 06:00 pm any day of the week.

The closest airport to Dunagiri is the Pantnagar Airport in Pantnagar about 150 kilometres away. There are regular scheduled flights between the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and Pantnagar. There are flights by Indigo Airline and Air India.

By Road

Dunagiri is very easily accessible by road, especially from Delhi, which is the closest access point. You can take a bus or a car or a private taxi from Delhi, or Kathgodam (which is much closer to the town) to take you to Dunagiri. The distance between the two places is approximately 125 km, which takes 7-8 hours to traverse.

The most convenient, clean and safe route between Delhi and Dunagiri is via Ghaziabad, then Moradabad, Rampur, Haldwani, Bhimtal, Ranikhet, Dwarahat after which you can make your way to stop right before Dunagiri.

By Train

The nearest railway station to Dunagiri is Kathgodam, situated at a distance of 125 Kilometres. There are several direct trains which run daily from major cities like Kolkata, New Delhi, Lucknow, Agra to Kathgodam. Mr. Nitin handled everything very efficiently and professionally from our booking and the moment we were picked up at the airport to the moment we were dropped off to leave for home. The hotels were all very good, and as described. We want to add special thanks to our driver Pankaj Ji. He was gracious, enthusiastic, and very flexible in working with us. He knows the area very well, and loves it. He made wonderful suggestions about places to go, adjusting for the weather, and affording us memorable moments. Mussoorie was beautiful, and as many have said, the people are lovely.

Excellent experience throughout tour. Very cooperative driver and good condition car. Also accomodation is mostly with himalayan view and our package included with dinner and breakfast. They prepared meals as our choices. Our main tour operator rahulbhai is always ready to help and whenever any minor need of adjustment arrives he is quick and immediately arrange things as per our needs. Arranged a honeymoon tour for my brother and his wife thru all seasons tour.
