How to Reach Kufri

By Air

Jubbarhatti Airport situated near Shimla is the nearest airport to Kufri, situated at a distance of 20 km. Leading airlines provide regular flights from Delhi and other major cities to this airport. International travellers can avail connecting flights from Delhi. Flights are irregular during winters due to fog. Taxis and cabs are easily available from Jubbarhatti Airport to reach Kufri.

By Rail/ Train

Shimla, 20 km from Kufri, is connected by narrow gauge line with Kalka (100 km) which in turn is connected with the major cities in India. The toy train journey from Kalka to Shimla is enchanting and passes through 107 tunnels and lofty arched bridges. The duration of the journey is around six hours. The frequency of trains that ply from Kalka to Shimla is pretty good, with atleast four trains plying to and fro from Shimla daily. Kalka, a broad gauge railway station which is connected to all the major cities, which is situated at a distance of 100 km from this destination.

By Road

Kufri is well connected by road with the main cities in and around Himachal Pradesh, like Shimla (68 km), Solan, Delhi (303 km) and Chandigarh (60 km). From Delhi, one has to take NH1 to Ambala, from there take NH22 to Dharampur and finally SH to Kufri. In case you are coming from Shimla, take NH22 to Dharampur and from there, SH to Kufri. From these cities, regular buses are easily available for Kufri. Buses in deluxe and non-deluxe class are available, by State transport department as well as private bus operators.

Kufri has a small bus stand of its own. Private and HPSTC operated buses are available to and from the city connecting it to other major cities nearby such as Kotgarh, Fagu, Hatkoli, Tattapani, Janga, Sarog, Haru, Loharab, Delhi, Chandigarh etc. The best option for tourists from other cities would be to reach Shimla and then take bus from there to reach Kufri. Buses are available for Kufri daily at duration of every 30 minutes from Rivoli Bus Stand, Shimla.
