  • The trip was fabulous. Shimla is an amazing place with lots to see and do. Our tour operator was excellent. All of their suggestions and recommendations were solid. We loved our hotel and the location. All the tours were high-quality and we experienced no difficulties with pickups. Mr. Nitin was extremely pleasant to work with and truly wanted us to have a fabulous time.

  • We cannot recommend this travel company enough! My husband and I had been wanting to go to India for quite some time but had not done so due to lack of time to plan a worthwhile trip. Booking with this company was exactly what we needed--we told them the types of places and sites we wanted to see and they took care of the rest.

  • I got exactly the vacation I wanted for almost no work and probably cheaper than I could have done it myself. I told this travel company what I wanted and they just did the rest. The hotels and tours/activities were great! Couldn't have asked for more. Great service too they were very responsive and helpful!

History of Governor House - Raj Bhawan:-

According to local folklore, the tunnel in the Governor House had served as the hideout of Sultana Daku, the Robin Hood of India, in bygone days. It was occupied by Sir Antony Mac Donnell in that year, and was inhabited after him by Sir James La Touche, Sir John Hewett, Sir James Meston, Sir Harcourt Butler and Sir William Morris. The design was prepared originally by Mr. Stevens, a Bombay architect and by Mr. F.O. Oertel, Executive Engineer; but Mr. H.S. Wildeblood, who supervised its construction, designed many of the details, Sir Antony Mac Donnell himself took keen interest in the building.

Old Governor House, Naini Tal, 1895

Old Govt House, Naini Tal, was pulled down by Sir A.P. Macdonnell Photograph of the Old Government House at Nainital from the Macnabb Collection (Col James Henry Erskine Reid): Album of views of 'Naini Tal' taken by Lawrie & Company in 1895.

Architecture & making of Governor House - Raj Bhawan:-

The architecture has been professionally described as of "the early domestic Gothic style". The front aspect is dominated by six castellated turrets which were later benefited by the removal of the steep pinnacles which formerly crowned them. The general effect is one of solidity and dignity without exuberance. The back view of the house, which most nearly suggests an English country house, is perhaps, its most successful aspect. The material used was, in the main, a local stone, a dark grey marble, mixed in the interior cross walls with local dolomite limestone. While Naloina freestone was used freely in the exterior, a limited use was also made of Agra red sandstone.

Teak was used freely for the main stairway, the paneling of the dining-room, all the doors and window and some of the principal floors. Elsewhere, shisham, satin wood, cypress and sal were used to some extent; and the local pine wood was employed for trussors, joints and the less important floors. The glass, tiles, brass fittings and iron pipes came from England. Agra masons did the ashlar stone work and carpenters from Punjab did the wood work. Messrs Lazarus and Co. of Calcutta and Messrs Maple and Co. of London did most of the furnishing. The house stands upon a plateau at an altitude of 1932.37 metres above sea-level with rising ground behind it.

The Golf Course Nainital - Ground inside Governor's House - 50 Acres Golf Area

Raj Bhawan Golf Course Nainital

The Golf Course From the level of the lower lawn, well graded paths traverse the outlying portion of the grounds where the golf course lies. It is an 18 hole golf course with 18 different tees. Golfing was started in 1926 with the efforts of Lord Malcolm Hailey, the then Governor of the United Provinces. The golf course was designed and constructed by the British Army Engineers. A culmination of masterpiece designing, the ground was studded with hards and covered by vibrant forests which can still be witnessed. The course is spread over an area of 50 acres amidst a hilly landscape with a typical flavour of the British penchant for sylvan surroundings.

It is one of the most challenging courses in the world where one can enjoy the ethereal beauty of the course with the changing seasons. For draining out the water from the golf course, an undergrounfd tunnel 137.1 m. in length has been constructed in the lowest bopwl of the cours, a marvel of engineering skill. In 1994, the Golf course was opened for the public. The Golf course has since been developed to a great extent due to the efforts of Shri Moti Lal Vora and Shri Romesh Bhandari, the then Governors of U.P.Golf Course Nainital is currently one of the best very well maintained Golf courses in the country and the pride of Uttaranchal and is hosting many Golf Championships.

Exceeded all my Expectations

I completed a 6 -day Uttarakhand trip with this tour company. It was an incredible experience! I am a woman, and I was traveling in India alone. Even though it was the off-season, I was so pleased that the company arranged for me to do this trek with four other women. It was winter (and very cold), but the company arranged for some lovely accommodations along the three nights of our trek. The food was amazing, the trekking was an enjoyable challenge, and the views along the entire trek were absolutely breathtaking. Binod, our kind and competent guide, was absolutely wonderful, and I'm grateful for him leading us through the wilderness in this magical place! I absolutely recommend this company to everyone! Their service exceeded all of my expectations, and I'm so grateful for this experience. I can't wait to travel back to the Himalayas for more trekking.

Highly recommended

We just finished the Kedarkantha trek. We had an excellent guide, Naveen. He has the widest knowledge about the geography, the plants, everything. He took care of all our needs during the trek. We highly recommend this company and especially the guide Pemba for anyone considering taking a Trek in the Uttarakhand region. The trek was amazing, and we had very good views in the morning of the whole Himalaya range including Himalayas in the distance. On our way we had a chance to meet the local population, see how they live, and learn to make Bhang ki Chutney...

Fantastic Experience

We have just just returned home after doing the amazing 6 day Uttarakhand tour! Wow, what a fantastic experience, we were so lucky with the weather and got to enjoy incredible views of Himalayan Peaks. The trek was a lot tougher than I expected but we all survived ok. I have to say the entire All Seasons team were superb, Mr Binod ( our guide) was a true gentleman and very patient with us, his knowledge of the flora and fauna made the trek more interesting especially for m6 son who has a keen interest in nature. Just want to say thanks to Subash for his attention and responsiveness to all my queries in planning this trip, he was fantastic and I wish him well in the future, his ethos of supporting the families high up in the mountains is commendable.
