The deity of the temple is Maa Naina Devi represented by two eyes. Naina Devi Temple is located on the northern shore of Naini Lake.An ancient temple is believed to have been built in the 15th century A.D. which was reconstructed in 1883. The gate to the temple is marked by a gigantic Peepal tree to the left. On the right, there are idols of Lord Hanumana and Lord Ganesha. Inside the temple there are three deities Mata Kali Devi, Maa Naina Devi and Lord Ganesha.
Five kilometers from the lake lays the Naina Peak. At 2,611 meters, it is the highest peak bordering the lake. We had an unbelievable time in Uttarakhand this winter. Allseasonsz travel agency provided us with excellent hotels, located in the center of the cities, comfortable, and close to the main sights and trendy restaurants. The guides and drivers for our private tours were phenomenal - very knowledgable and well spoken. We have a family of 6, so they arranged transportation for us in a private van, which was beyond convenient! Lastly, they added stops to our itinerary, that I myself would not have chosen. But those spots ended up being some of our favorite places to see!
