Jolly Grant airport up for expansion; to get new terminal, state-of-art facilities

The Uttarakhand government has decided to expand Jolly Grant airport of Dehradun, where the number of travelers is expected to double in the next few years. The Trivendra Singh Rawat government will develop a new terminal building with state-of-the-art facility, parking lots for planes, longer air-strip and multi-level parking for cars. The state experts have started talks with Airports Authority of India (AAI) and civil aviation officers for the extension project. The hill state's legislature will also acquire forest and farm land adjoining to the air terminal.

Additional chief secretary Om Prakash told TOI, "Recently, 15 urban areas of Uttarakhand have been included under Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme . Moreover, Uttarakhand is ending up being a noteworthy place for yoga, wellbeing, experience games and tourism. Over the most recent couple of years, the quantity of travelers at the Dehradun air terminal has gone up to 10 lakh."
