Booked our family vacation with All Season Tour & Traveller and it turned out to be one of the best trips we’ve ever had. Hotels were excellent, travel arrangements were on time. Special thanks to the Rahul Ji for customising the trip exactly as per our needs..
After declaring Nainital "houseful" for visitors and denying tourists vehicles into the town because of limited parking facilities in the hill station, the Nainital administration has now started regulating the traffic entering the town.
About a week back, when the boards stating "Nainital Houseful" were set up at the entry points to the town, the hotels witnessed a sudden cancellation of bookings. "Few days back Nainital had quit seeing any vacationer footfall," Dinesh Sah, president of the Nainital Hotel and Restaurant Association said.
Since all tourism-based organizations were being hit by the town administration's decision to forbid any traveler vehicle from entering the town, the business associations in the town decided to declare an "indefinite shut down" of all businesses in Nainital until the administration allowed entry to tourist vehicles, Sah Said.
After a meeting between the business associations and the neighborhood organization on June 14, the hill station has now started to permit visitors into the town yet the traffic is being directed at three courses the Nainital-Kaladhungi course, the Nainital-Haldwani course, and the Nainital-Bhowali leading to two-three hours of traffic jam.
Harish Chandra Sati, Additional Superintendent of Police, Nainital, stated, "We presently stop the vehicles along the three section courses to Nainital, and discharge 10-20 vehicles at one time, so that traffic can move easily across Nainital."
Nainital as of now has upto five parking spaces that permit parking of upto 2,000 vehicles, Sati said. The parking spots at hotels give an extra parking to upto 1,500 vehicles, Alok Sah, an individual from the town's hotel association said.
Sati said that two new parking spots are being arranged in the town, however it would take "a couple of years" for the spaces to be built. In any case, with upto 4,000 vehicles entering the town ordinary amid the peak season, and the number heightening to 6,000 vehicles on weekends, heavy traffic and hours of jam is influencing local people, and the sightseers alike.
Nainital District Magistrate V K Suman stated, "To reuglate the traffic we have provided shuttle services for tourists at at Kathgodam (33 kilometers from Nainital), and at Rusi Bend (10 km from Nainital). Vacationers can park their cars at Kathgodam, or at Rusi Bend, and can use the shuttle services to travel to the town."
In Mussoorie, the circumstance is the same. Saturday and Sunday in the hill town saw traffic jams where vehicles were stranded for upto three hours. For a town that has a parking spot for upto 3,000 vehicles, Sunday saw upto 6,500 vehicles entering the town.
Mussoorie Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Minakshi Patwal stated, "Parking spot for vehicles is a noteworthy issue at Mussoorie. We have been trying to control the traffic as much as possible, for example, the tankers that supply water to the inns presently move just in the night so that some traffic congestion can be avoided. And still, at the end of the day, amid weekends is a minimum of two hours of traffic jam."
Mussoorie-based Sandeep Sahni, president of the Uttarakhand Hotel and Restaurant Association, stated, "Traffic congestion has earned Uttarakhand a bad name, so the high spending sightseers have started avoiding Uttarakhand hill stations. Just spending voyagers visit the state's hill stations now."
