Kainchi Mandir

Kainchi is a beautiful secluded mountain ashram located in the Kumoan Hills in Uttarakand. The first temple was inaugurated in June 1964. It is approximately 38 km from Naini Tal. Many hundreds of people visit the temples here every day, in season. Each year, during the famous June 15th bhandara, reportedly, more than one lakh (100,000) people are fed. Beautiful Gardens.Kainchi s a placed at an altitude of (1400 MT) On the Nainital – Almora Road, at a distance of 9 Km from Bhowali and 17 Kms from Nainital is a modern pilgrim centre. This place has achieved recognition owing to the ashram of the famous Shri Neem Karoli Baba Maharajji. Many hundreds of people visit the temples here every day, in season.
Each year, during the June 15th Bhandara, reportedly, more than one lakh (100,000) people are fed Kainchi is a term used for two sharp hairpin bends of the motor road in local dialect hence the name. It has NO relation with scissors. The ashram of Shri Neem Karoli Baba Maharajji is situated 17 kilometers from Nainital. The ashram is believed to be built in memory of Sombari Maharaj and Sadhu Premi Baba by Maharaj Neem Karoli in 1962. A temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the Kainchi temple and the Ashram are part of the complex.God was invoked in the idol of Lord Hanuman on June 15 and since then the day has been named as the Pratishtha Divas. Devotees then started visiting the temple in large numbers, organised bhandaras (the custom of donating food), Bhajans and Kirtans. A number of devotees not just from India but across the globe spent time with the spiritual guru to understand the simple philosophies of life. Neem Karoli Maharaji’s devotees have utmost faith in him. He took Samadhi in on September 10, 1973, yet his followers feel his presence around them.
