Me and my friend has completed 5 days/ 4 nights trip to Jageshwar. It was a very nice trip properly organised. Hotels and taxi service was excellent. Though I booked a budget tour but services were of standard class.😊
Had a good trip with family. The cab driver was polite throughout. But we faced a few issues: the hotel was under construction, breakfast and dinner options were limited compared to a buffet, and room cleanliness was a problem. All Seasons staff Shivam was courteous and arranged alternate hotel nearby which was good
The former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, Narayan Dutt Tiwari passed away on his 93rd birthday at the Max Super Specialty Hospital in Delhi after prolonged illness. On Thursday 18 October 2018 at 2:50 pm he breathed his last after he suffered a heart attack. He was hospitalized after suffering from a brain stroke at the same hospital in September last year and was put in intensive care. A team of doctors was monitoring his condition throughout. He was the only politician to have served as chief minister of two states.
The body of N.D Tiwari was conveyed to Lucknow on Saturday and taken to the state assembly where top government officials paid homage. Senior Congress Ministers, including former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Uttarakhand party unit chief Pritam Singh and Leader of Opposition Indira Hridayesh were available amid the cremation. The last rites of 3-time UP Chief Minister N D Tiwari were performed with full state respects in Ranibagh in Uttarakhand's Nainital district on Sunday.
Calling N.D Tiwari a "Vikas Purush", Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that "He played an important role in putting Uttarakhand on the way of development and his commitment to the state would always be recalled." "I express grief over the death of previous Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh ND Tiwari. I pray that his spirit rest in peace and God gives his family strength to overcome this loss," Rawat added. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders also expressed grief over his death."Saddened by the passing away of Shri ND Tiwari Ji. A towering leader, he was known for his administrative skills. He will be remembered for his efforts towards industrial growth & working for the progress of UP & Uttarakhand, a state he steered in its initial days " PM Modi Tweeted.
Education and Early Life
Narayan Dutt Tiwar was born in 1925 in an Kumauni Family in the village of Baluti. His father Poornanand Tiwari was an officer in the Forest Department who later joined the Non Cooperation Movement. ND Tiwari received education at various schools including E.M High School, C.R.S.T High School and M.B. School, Haldwani.
His introduction into politics came early, while amid the Indian Independence development, he was arrested on 14 December 1942 for writing Anti-British leaflets contradicting imperialist policies, and sent to Nainital imprison, where his dad was at that point lodged. Upon his discharge following 15 months in 1944, he selected at Allahabad University, where he topped the University in M.A. (Political science); he proceeded with his instruction with a LLB from a similar college, and was chosen as the President of the Students' Union of the Allahabad University in 1947. He also remained Secretary of the All India Student Congress from 1947 to 49.
Career
After the independence, the first election for Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly held in 1952 and Narayan Dutt Tiwari was chosen from Nainital constituency and became an MLA out of the blue on Praja Samajwadi Party ticket. In 1957, he was chosen from the Nainital legislative constituency, and became leader of Opposition in the Assembly.
n 1963, he joined the Indian National Congress party, and was chosen Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Kashipur voting demographic in 1965 and was in this manner delegated a minister in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. After that he additionally remained Minister for Finance and Parliamentary Affairs in the Chaudhary Charan Singh Government (1979 1980). In 1968, he set up Jawaharlal Nehru National Youth Center (JNNYC), a voluntary organization. He remained the primary President of Indian Youth Congress from 1969 to 1971.
N.D Tiwari joined the Congress in 1963 and is the only Indian politician to serve as the chief minister of two states- He was Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 1976-77, 1984-85, and after that from 1988-89. He was very close to the Gandhi family and was chosen the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1976. He was chosen as the state CM for the second time in 1984 and amid this residency, helped Congress win the state elections held a long time after Indira Gandhi's death that year.
His residency went on for barely one year and in 1985, Tiwari was supplanted. In any case, he came back to power for the third time in Uttar Pradesh in 1988 for a tenure that lasts for about seven months. Amid his time with Congress, Tiwari was chosen to both the places of Parliament. In 1980, he was chosen to the seventh Lok Sabha and served as a union minister in a few portfolios in the 1980s: beginning with Planning, and furthermore remained Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission. He served as a member of Rajya Sabha between 1985 & 1988.
He was an unsuccessful contender to be Prime Minister of India in the mid 1990s yet was pipped to the post by P. V. Narasimha Rao. He resigned from Congress in 1994 and framed his own All India Indira Congress (Tiwari) alongside senior Congress leader, Arjun Singh in 1995. He joined Congress back when Sonia Gandhi came in charge of affairs of the party two years later, and after a terrible defeat of the party under Narasimha Rao amid the general elections in 1996 ND Tiwari was chosen to the eleventh Lok Sabha in 1996, and again to the thirteenth Lok Sabha in 1999.
What was strikingly unique in Tiwari's style of working with others in Uttar Pradesh was the teaching of a culture of administration which kept crooks under control. This was a significant overwhelming assignment in Uttar Pradesh as chief ministers right since Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna had started humiliate criminals. Tiwari followed the example yet kept his administration generally unaffected by the Mafia culture of the state.
He later filled in as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, which was cut out of Uttar Pradesh, from 2002 through 2007. He resigned on 5 March 2006, referring to his age and left office in March 2007 following setbacks from his party in the state elections. Narayan Datt Tiwari was designated as Governor of Andhra Pradesh on 19 August 2007 and was confirmed on 22 August. Following a controversy over his involvement in a sex scandal, he resigned as the Governor on 26 December 2009, referring to "wellbeing grounds", in this manner he relocated to Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
Rohit Shekhar in 2008 documented a paternity suit claiming that ND Tiwari was his Biological Father. The outcome in 2012 of a court-requested DNA test demonstrated the case right. Tiwari told media to respect his privacy - "I have each privilege to carry on with my life my way. Nobody has the privilege to investigate my private life. It would be ideal if you respect my privacy," he said. In 2014, Tiwari wedded Shekhar's mom Ujjwala Sharma in Lucknow, finding another family in the mother and child at 88 years old.
On 18 January 2017, alongside his child Rohit Shekhar Tiwari (Advocate and Former Advisor, Government of Uttar Pradesh) and his better half Dr. Smt. Ujjwala Tiwari, Tiwari gave his favors and support to Narendra Modi and the BJP for the assembly elections held in the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in presence of BJP President Amit Shah for the sake of development.
In his life's weaker minutes, he encircles himself with debates and controversies that began characterizing him. However, history would do doing injustice if ND Tiwari is only remembered for that. The individuals who worked with him still remember that his gentle idiosyncrasy hid a tough administrator.
