Kedarnath Mandir

The holiest of Shiva's shrines is likened to gold among base metals so that every pilgrim finds peace here, and it is said that devotees who die here become one with Shiva himself. The temple of Kedarnath, located at a height of 3,581 mts, stand at the head of the Mandakini river, with Kedarnath peak keeping vigil above it. The temple is dedicated to the Sadasiva or invisible form of Shiva, and is represented by a natural rock formation. Beyond the temple is the highway to heaven, called Mahapanth. Kedarnath Mandir is situated near the Mandakini River and is one of the Panch Kedars.
The temple has a Shivalinga which is considered as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. The structure of the temple is in the pyramidal form. The temple is situated in the middle of the Himalayan ranges. It is believed to have been constructed by Adi Shankaracharya and consists of more than 200 idols of Lord Shiva. According to mythology, the Pandavas tried to seek redemption from Lord Shiva by performing an absolution in Kedarnath. Deities and stories sculpted on the walls of the temple can be seen by tourists.

History and Importance of Kedarnath Temple

Renowned temple Kedarnath is dedicated to incarnations of Lord Shiva. Kedarnath is named subsequent to King Kedar who ruled in the Satya Yuga. It is trusted that Kedarnath Dham is the spot where Lord Shiva acquitted Pandavas from the sin of killing their own cousins Kauravas in the clash of Kurukshetra war. Inside temple

The main corridor inside Kedarnath Temple contains statues of the five Pandava siblings, Lord Krishna, Nandi, the vehicle of Shiva and Virabhadra, one of the gatekeepers of Shiva. Statue of Draupadi and other deities are also installed in the main hall. A medium-size funnel shaped harsh stone development is worshiped in the Garbagruha and considered as Sadashiva type of Lord Shiva. An abnormal component of the temple is the leader of a man cut in the triangular stone sash. Such a head is seen cut in another temple adjacent built on the site where the marriage of Shiva and Parvati was held. Adi Shankara was accepted to have restored this temple, alongside Badrinath and different sanctuaries of Uttarakhand; he is accepted to have achieved Mahasamadhi at Kedaranath. Behind the temple is the samadhi mandir of Adi Sankara. The head cleric (Raval) of the Kedarnath temple has a place with the Veerashaiva people group from Karnataka. However, dissimilar to in Badrinath temple, the Raval of Kedarnath temple does not play out the pujas. The pujas are completed by Raval's colleagues on his directions. Kedarnath Temple Opening and Closing Timings

Temple is closed from 3 pm to 5 pm so plan to be at temple before 3 pm. Before 3 pm visitors can touch idle and do Abhishek with Ghee. After 5 PM no one can touch idle but can get Darshan with a distance. At this time idle is in Emperor costume.
The temple at Kedarnath enshrining the Jyotirlingam of Shiva opens only six months of a year (April-November) when the sun enters the zodiac sign of Aries and it is closed when the sun enters Scorpio.

Kedarnath Temple New Route

The new route to Kedarnath Temple is constructed and maintained by NIM teams members. Various teams are working to maintain the best suitable road to Kedarnath. New route via Rambara and Linchauli is major trek route to reach Kedarnath. Rambara was completely washed away in 2013 floods. Now only newly constructed bridge is to landmark Rambara.

Triyuginarayan

Triyuginarayan is situated at a distance of 5 km trek from Son Prayag. Situated in an excellent town in Rudraprayag, this spot is renowned for the old temples, which is committed to Lord Vishnu.

49 km. Famous for the temples of Ardhnarishwar and Vishwanathji.

Rudraprayag

Situated on the Gopeshwar Ukhimath road about 40 km from Gopeshwar at an altitude of about 2500 mtrs above sea level, Rudraprayag is one of the most picturesque spots in the entire Garhwal region.

Deoria Tal

At an altitude of 2,440 mt., this beautiful lake is situated on the Rudraprayag � Ukhimath motor road. In the early morning, the snow-capped peaks are clearly reflected on the lake waters. This lake also provides an excellent venue for angling, as well as birdwatching.

A temple by the name of Agasteshwar Mahadev is dedicated to sage Agastya and this temple is also of an archaeological significance, figures of Gods and Goddesses have been carved out on stones. 18 kms form Rudraprayag, at an altitude of 1000 mts and on the bank of river Mandakini, this is the place where Rishi Agastya meditated for years.

It is situated at 6000 ft. Kalimath is the famous pilgrimage place of Garhwal. This temple belongs to Maa Kali.

Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary

Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, sprawling over an area of 967 sq.km, was established in 1972. Located in the district of Chamoli, it is named after the famous Kedarnath temple. Situated on the catchment area of Alaknanda River, this sanctuary is home to temperate forests, which include low and coniferous, alpine and Bugyals.
