Hamirpur is a town and the district headquarters of Hamirpur district in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Hamirpur is located in a relatively colder region in western Himachal Pradesh with a lower altitude as compared to the other districts of the state. It is an artificial lake formed as a result of the world famous Bhakra Dam situated on the River Sutlej.The Cave is famous for the revered sage Vyasa and is situated in Bilaspur city and 61 Kms from Hamirpur. It is believed that Saint Vyasa had meditated in this cave. The name of the city has been derived from the name of the cave itself.
