Badrinath is viewed as the holiest of the four imperative sanctums. The town is at an elevation of 3,133 m. above ocean level, arranged on the left bank of river Alaknanda and precisely between the two mountains Nara and Narayan. The place of worship is committed to Vishnu, the preserver and falls in the religious schedule of each ardent Hindu.
The Opening and Closing Date of Badrinath Temple
The Badrinath temple opens every year in the month of April-May & closes for winters in the third week of November. Thus the temple is shut down for 6 months every year during which prayers to the Badri Vishal continue at the Narsimha temple in Joshimath. Note: Generally, The Temple doors are closed around October (dates are fixed on Vijayadashmi) at the advent of winters and are opened again for worship at around last week of April (dates are decided on Basant Panchami ).

Badrianth Temple is closed down for winter months consistently during while prayers to the Badri Vishal ‘Utsav Murti’ continue at the Narsimha temple in Joshimath. The clerics of Badrinath Temple keep on performing the customs on the 'Utsav Murti' at Narasimha temple amid the winter season.
Before shutting the temple entryways, the ministers light a light before the icon in the sanctum. It is said that amid this time of winter months, Narad Muni who had achieved salvation here, proceeds with the petition administrations. This conviction is further fortified taking into account the way that when the sanctuary is again revived following six months in spring, the light is still seen to flash!

We had an unbelievable time in Uttarakhand this winter. Allseasonsz travel agency provided us with excellent hotels, located in the center of the cities, comfortable, and close to the main sights and trendy restaurants. The guides and drivers for our private tours were phenomenal - very knowledgable and well spoken. We have a family of 6, so they arranged transportation for us in a private van, which was beyond convenient! Lastly, they added stops to our itinerary, that I myself would not have chosen. But those spots ended up being some of our favorite places to see!
