Kedarnath and Badrinath temples remain open from April till November.However best time to visit Kedarnath and Badrinath is May, June, September and October.The whole area is covered with snow in winters and temples remains closed.It is advisable to avoid travelling in July, August as the area is prone to landslides with high chances of road blockage in rainy season.

Badrinath from Jolly Grant Airport or Dehradun airport is loacted at distance of 305 Kms and usually takes 10-12 hrs depending upon the traffic conditions.To go to Badrinath from Dehradun Aiport the best way is local taxis which needs to be booked in advance due to high demand especially in summer season or Uttarakhand Transport Cooperation buses which runs in few numbers between Dehradun- Badrinath.

The Distance between Kedarnath to Badrinath by road is 214 kms as per the traffic conditions ( Traffic Jams are common scenario in May &June ).The first 22 Kms from Kedarnath to Guptakashi can be covered via Trek/Pony takes 5-6Hrs or By Helicopter/20 mins and one can driver from Guptakashi via Joshimath-Govindghat-Badrinath approx 196 Kms and takes 7-8 Hrs.The aerial distance from Kedarnath to Badrinath is 40KM but there is no direct Helicopter service from Kedarnath to Badrinath.

Yes for visiting Kedarnath by Car the itinerary will be as follows:

Drive from Haridwar – Guptakashi via Rishikesh, Devprayag(194Kms/ 6-8 Hrs ).Overnight stay at Guptakashi.

For Kedarnath Darshan by Helicopter (Fly from Guptakashi-Phata Helipad- Kedarnath Helipad).On arrival check in to the hotel.Overnight at Guptakashi. Next day transfer from Guptakashi-Haridwar.

For Kedarnath Darshan by Trek- Drive to Sonprayag by car,from Sonprayag drive to Gaurikund by local transport.Trek starting from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (22 Kms) by trek (By poni, Doli, By Gorhi at own cost).Late evening arrival in Kedarnath,checking to the hotel and overnight stay in Hotel.Next day early morning Temple Darshan and trek back from Kedarnath to Guptakashi.Overnight at Guptakashi.Next day proceed for onward journey.

Trek starting from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (22 Kms) By poni, Doli, By Gorhi) takes 6-8 hrs.

Gaurikund to Kedarnath Palki charges is INR 4250 (up to 65 kg) and INR 4850 (65 to 90 kg) one way.

Gaurikund to Kedarnath Pony charges it is INR 2000 one way.

Kedarnath from Gaurikund by road is 22 Kms trek and takes 6-7 hours normally one way.
