  • The trip was fabulous. Shimla is an amazing place with lots to see and do. Our tour operator was excellent. All of their suggestions and recommendations were solid. We loved our hotel and the location. All the tours were high-quality and we experienced no difficulties with pickups. Mr. Nitin was extremely pleasant to work with and truly wanted us to have a fabulous time.

  • We cannot recommend this travel company enough! My husband and I had been wanting to go to India for quite some time but had not done so due to lack of time to plan a worthwhile trip. Booking with this company was exactly what we needed--we told them the types of places and sites we wanted to see and they took care of the rest.

  • I got exactly the vacation I wanted for almost no work and probably cheaper than I could have done it myself. I told this travel company what I wanted and they just did the rest. The hotels and tours/activities were great! Couldn't have asked for more. Great service too they were very responsive and helpful!

Delay in reconstruction of Jhulaghar affecting livelihood and tourism

Uttarakhand News

The delay in the reconstruction of Jhulaghar complex, situated on the Mall road, has left many shopkeepers impatient. With the tourist season around the corner, the shop owners, who were displaced from the site fear loss of business due to the impending construction work.

Shripati Kandari, who ran photography shop in the Jhulaghar complex, said, "We were told that we will be called back in 6 to 9 months, but it has nearly been three years and we are yet to get our shops back. Our business has been closed since then and we are struggling to make our ends meet."

Similar is the story of around 20 other shopkeepers who were shifter from the Jhulaghar complex. "We were asked to conduct business on the roadside to earn our living. So, effectively from shopkeepers we have been reduced to street vendors," says another shopkeeper who does not wish to be named.

Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) had inititated the reonstruction and redevelopment work of Jhulaghar in 2016. The site, back then, was a highly popular hangout spot among the tourists. However, the demolition of the existing structure in 2016 led to the dislocation of a number of shopkeepers and the construction work has not yet been completed.

Presently, the under construction site does not present a pretty picture to the tourists and the accumulated construction material adversely impacts the beauty of the Mall road prompting tourists to neglect the site. When asked about the matter, Assistant Engineer of MDDA, Manoj Joshi said that he did not have any knowledge about this matter as he has been posted to Mussoorie recently.

Sunil Parashar, Executive Engineer of MDDA said "The chairman of Municipal Corporation (MC) has asked MDDA to handover this site to them so that they can take up further construction of the complex. We are in the process of formalizing the handing over formalities," Parashar told.

However, Anuj Gupta, MC Chairman, blamed MDDA for delay in construction work and also for the "poor quality of work". "The work which should have been completed in nine months has been stalled since last three years and also the quality of construction is quite poor," Gupta said. He added that the MC is taking over the site from MDDA so that it can complete the work in a time bound and efficient manner.
