Named after the famous British hunter turned author and naturalist, Jim Corbett National Park is one of the oldest National parks in India. Corbett National park was the first tiger reserve under the Project Tiger in India. The park was first established as a possible game reserve in 1907 by the British colonialists and was named Hailey National Park. Later declared as a protected region, the area of the park was increased and it was renamed to Jim Corbett National Park in 1955

To the south-east, nearest to Ramnagar, is the smaller portion called the Bijrani Range (entry through Amdanda Gate). Criss-crossed with many tracks, this area is preferred for day visits, and makes for excellent wildlife tracking by jeep. One could do a game drive here in the morning or afternoon or for the whole day. Elephant rides commence from the Bijrani Forest Rest House (FRH) in the morning or afternoon, subject to availability

Dhangarhi gate is situated 20 km from Ramnagar railway station. The museum has been set up at the main entry gate of the park is like an introduction to Jim Corbett National Park. The museum depicts the maximum information about the land topography and wildlife species residing the park.
