1 Naini Lake
Amidst seven mountains touching the sky, the heart of the place is a ravishing lake showering its beauty with pristine and stagnant water. Naini Lake is divided into two parts Mallital and Tallital. The north end of the Lake is called Mallital and the southern end of the Lake is known as Tallital. Both ends of the Naini Lake have shopping centers' with luxury and varied shops. Boatmen will row you around the lake for INR 250 in the brightly painted gondola-like boats.Pedal boats can also be hired for INR 180 per hour.
2 Naintal Zoo
Govind Ballabh Pant high altitude zoo is situated around 2km from the bus station. The zoo is set at an elevation of 2100mts above sea level providing high altitude animals a sufficient and habitat like environment. The Zoo consists of animals like Leopard , Hill Fox, Siberian Tiger (snow tiger), Palm civet cat, Wolf, Silver Pheasants, Barking Deer, Sambhar, Monkeys, Rose ringed Prakeet, Himalayan black bear, Ghoral, White Peacock. The zoo is closed on Mondays.
3 Naina Devi Temple
The deity of the temple is Maa Naina Devi represented by two eyes. The temple was destroyed by the drastic landslide of 1880, and was later rebuilt because the temple was of great importance amongst locals. Naina Devi Temple is located on the northern shore of Naini Lake.An ancient temple is believed to have been built in the 15th century A.D. which was reconstructed in 1883. The gate to the temple is marked by a gigantic Peepal tree to the left. On the right, there are idols of Lord Hanumana and Lord Ganesha. Inside the temple there are three deities Mata Kali Devi, Maa Naina Devi and Lord Ganesha.
4 Snow View Point
This popular vantage point, situated at 2,270 meters above sea level, offers an excellent view of the northern Himalayan ranges. The point is accessible by a chair lift (ropeway) or you can hire horses and mountain ponies to reach there. From the top, with the help of powerful binoculars, you can have a close up view of Nanda Devi, one of the highest peaks in the country.Snowview has a temple. 5 Naina Peak
Five kilometers from the lake lays the Naina Peak. At 2,611 meters, it is the highest peak bordering the lake. A popular picnic spot, the peak offers a panoramic view of the resort and a stunning view of the Himalayas including Nanda Devi and the mountains on the Tibetan border.Naina Peak is a quiet place from where the Nanda Devi peak and the mountains on the Tibet border can be viewed.It is a bliss for people who love walking.Do Not forget to take your own picnic basket because there is no place for eating here.You Can Visit this Place via Trek Or Horse Riding
6 Tiffin Top
Four kilometers to the west of the lake lays Dorothy seat, also known as Tiffin Top. Here a seat was built by an Englishman named Kellet in the memory of his wife, who was killed in an air crash. The spot offers a partial view of Nainital.Tiffin Top commands an excellent view of the Himalayas as well as the neighboring country side.A trip to Tiffin Top brings breath of fresh air and enjoyment of the scenic beauty.This hill top is a perfect spot for aspiring photographers as they can capture the picturesque view of the countryside.You Can Visit Tiffin-Top via Walking or Horse-Riding
7 Lands End
Located on the southern border of the lake, and standing 2,881 meters' high, this hill offers a view of another lake, Khurpa Tal.About 4 kms from Nainital,it provides a magnificent view of the plains and the beautiful lake surrounded by beautiful village and pine forests is exquisite from this point.Lands end is an easily reachable spot and does not need a long or steep climb.True to its name, the Lands end is a spot that marks the dead end
8 Hanuman Garhi
Three kilometers south of Tallital lays Hanuman Garhi, where there is a small temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The place is also a good spot for viewing the setting sun.Hanuman Garhi temple is also famous for its strategic location. It is situated at such a height and at such a site, from where the sunrises and sunsets are artistically visible. People who visit Nainital do not miss the opportunity of watching the mesmerizing view of sunset that one can get from this place.The area also houses Shitala Devi temple and Ashram of Lila Sah Bapu.
9 ARIES
Located around one kilometer from Hanuman Garhi on the top of a ridge is the State Observatory. 10 The Mall Road
The Mall is Nainital popular promenade and the centre of frenetic activity especially in the late afternoons.Parking is strictly prohibited on the Mall Road except some designated parking places with in Nainital.Traffic is strictly prohibited on Mall Road between 6-9 p.m during season.With the cool breeze blowing across the lake through the road an evening stroll on the Mall, has its own charm.Mall road has a number of Hotels, Travel Agencies, Banks, Showrooms, Department Stores, Shops, Restaurants and Cafes.
11 Eco Cave Garden
Eco Cave Garden is located one kilometer above Mallital near Kumaon University Campus. This spot is a latest tourism spot of Nainital. Cave Garden offers caves of different kinds of animals which you can explore by going in it. .The Eco cave garden and musical fountain is about ONE kilometre away from the Mall Road and comprises of SIX small caves with the forms of tiger, panther, porcupine and so on.It is great place for children with lots of activities and fun on offer.
